~~~~~****{{*}}****~~~~ WILD AZALEA ECO-CAMP ~~~~****{{*}}****~~~~~ Spend much needed quality time with nature and unwind at Wild Azalea Eco-Camp. Our beautiful 5 acre Permaculture homestead at the gateway to the Rogue River, features everything required to get away, relax—unplug; yet near enough to plenty of outdoor activities, river adventures, and the quaint small town bustle of downtown Grants Pass. There’s a little bit of everything to please camping enthusiasts: RV/van/car or SUV spots, or cozy tent sites for individuals, small families and even group reunions.   Or, after it's completed at some point soon, you could try our newly renovated tiny cabin if you're in a glamping mood! ~~~~ Wild Azalea Camp is part of a 16 yr. old organic homestead project and “food forest” with a broad array of permanent food bearing plants using regenerative agriculture – no-till organic gardening methods with native plants, medicinal plants, water capturing features. Guided garden tours of the 1 acre garden/orchard available upon request, where you can also learn a bit about our Earth friendly practices! Retreats/workshops, small gatherings and public classes are in the plans, which Hipcamp guests are welcome to join. Dreaming up your own small group gathering/event, multi-family outing, or something similar? Barbara's son Bryon was the creator of this art, art that you may have seen at festivals or in stores or decorating yoga and spiritual Centers around the country. Bryon shared this land with his mom until his death at the end of 2022, and she celebrates his life by sharing a small taste of his art with you. _____________________________________________________________________________ Even if you aren’t lucky enough to spot a secret gnome or fairy house on a trail, we’ve worked hard to make sure you’ll have good memories of your stay here. Stop by and visit! ***** WHY OUR FLOCK OF CHICKENS STAY HERE LONG-TERM: ***** - 5 lush acres of woodland trails – mosses, mushrooms, wildflowers, deer, turkeys, song birds and occasional sightings of Jackrabbits!  - Multiple seasonal ponds and 4 seasonal creeks (they have water in the late fall/winter/early spring). - Communal fire pit for guitar sing-a-longs. - Garden/Homestead Tours available. - Occasional public workshops and retreats also open to HIpcampers. - "Coming soon": A zipline for the kids! It just needs to be installed! ______________________________________________________________________________ **** WHY OUR RESIDENT GNOMES LOVE THIS LOCATION: **** - Water and Electric Hookups at 3 RV/Van sites. Tent sites in the woodland (coming soon). You're welcome to set up tents in the RV/van/car sites also. - Small cabin with kitchenette, outdoor shower and compost toilet. (coming soon) - 10 min drive to mid-sized Grants Pass- with its lovely shops, theater, interesting restaurants/cafes (we have Dominican Caribbean, an all American vintage ice cream bar, and sushi :-) ) county parks, playgrounds, a skateboard park, and other amenities. - 10 min. to wilderness, Rogue River and rafting, hiking, fishing, kayaking, birding, mushrooming - Easy 10 min trip to I-5 Freeway. 20-45min drives to Ashland (for the Shakespeare fest!) and lovely towns of Jacksonville, Rogue River, and the city of Medford. -  3 min. (2 miles) drive or bike ride to the village of Merlin with rafting companies, grocery, gas and several restaurants. Madrone Campsite
Directions were clear, the site was easy to find, and they were communicative and kind hosts. The compost toilet was nice, the camp was well lit, I slept well and felt safe (I tent camped). The little trails around the camp are nice, and they even had some extra ammenities and things to make the stay extra nice. Would stay again!

I had a great time at Wild Azalea! I only got one night since I was just passing through, but it was very peaceful and in a beautiful setting. I enjoyed hearing the wildlife at night. Vanessa was very kind and communicative and I felt very welcome. The site also has everything you could need close by, I can tell a lot of thought and care has gone into building the incredible property. Absolutely looking forward to getting the chance to stay again!

Highly Recommended
I spent a week in one of Vanessa and Barbara's rv spots and really enjoyed my time there. It's close to Grants Pass, the Rogue River, shopping and dining yet far enough away to enjoy the beautiful rural setting. Our hosts were welcoming and accommodating, and I look forward to staying here again when I'm in the area.

Eco friendly paradise!
Lovely spot in the woods. We enjoyed the added on tour of the permaculture garden with Barbara who has tended this land lovingly for 16 years. I learned much about her techniques and approach to land management. Vanessa was welcoming and accommodating with our power conversion needs. The whole site was peaceful and enchanting.

I enjoyed my overnight stay at Vanessa and Barbara's place. The place was well marked, quite and very friendly! Vanessa was a accommodating and communicative host. They have water and power hookups and a compostable toilet. Beautiful tall pines surround the property. I'd definitely come back again
